Self Care = Important
During these trying times remember to take care of yourself.
As pandemic living drags on, sometimes we can get overwhelmed, anxious, stressed out and sad. And yes, by “we” I mean ME.
I recently became extremely overextended and had to take some time off unexpectedly. I had been letting a lot of little things build up. I was stressing about every little thing, overworking myself and not prioritizing being really nice to myself. I wasn’t checking in with myself the way I usually do. It’s so important to celebrate small victories and I hadn’t been doing that. In many areas of my life I had been focused a little too much on what was stressful and unknown and yucky.
So, wherever we are in the Practice and the Art of Living - whether we have become skilled practitioners of mindfulness over many years, or we are beginners - we could probably all use a little reminder. And yes, again, by we, I definitely mean ME!
So here it is, my PSA for the week:
Take it easy on yourself. Take care with yourself. Check in with yourself.
Emotional and mental hygiene are extremely important. Perhaps now more than ever.
Sit quietly once in a while. Close your eyes, breathe. Tune in to your “you-ness” and ask:
“What’s true for me now?”
Sit with the answer and reflect. Doing this each and every day can help one to notice when things start to become out of balance. I wish you a pleasant day. Don't forget to take some time for you soon, even if it’s just for a few breaths.
